For years, Yei Joint Stars FC travelled into regional competition carrying ambition.
In 2026, ambition became history.
The Stars secured a place in the semi-finals of the CECAFA Women’s Champions League qualifiers in Kigali, breaking through a barrier the club had been determined to overcome after previous appearances in the competition.
The moment represented more than qualification.
It was progress.
Yei Joint Stars had spoken openly before the tournament about the desire to move beyond the group stage. The club arrived with a strengthened squad, greater experience and a belief that this campaign could be different.
It was.
A 1–1 draw against hosts Rayon Sports was enough to secure a place in the semi-finals and guarantee top spot in the group, marking one of the most significant moments in the club’s regional journey.
For South Sudan women’s football, the achievement carries its own importance.
Regional competitions provide a different stage, a different pressure and a different measure of progress. To compete successfully requires more than talent. It requires preparation, resilience and the ability to believe that history can be changed.

In March 2026, Yei Joint Stars FC added another important chapter to its growing story by reclaiming the South Sudan Women’s Cup and lifting the competition’s trophy for the third time.
The final against Munuki FC demanded everything.
Yei Joint Stars took the lead through Esther in the first half, but the contest remained alive as Munuki found an equaliser after the break. With neither side able to find a winner in regulation time, the championship would ultimately be decided by a penalty shootout.
It was a moment for composure.
A moment for belief.
And a moment that Yei Joint Stars handled with the confidence of a team accustomed to competing for major honours.
The Stars emerged victorious, winning the shootout 5–3 to reclaim the cup and add another trophy to the club’s collection.
For the players, it was a celebration.
For the club, it was confirmation.
Yei Joint Stars had once again demonstrated that success in South Sudan women’s football is not built around one good season or one memorable result. Sustaining a winning culture requires the ability to return to the biggest occasions and perform when there is no room for hesitation.

Yei Joint Stars completed the league campaign with a perfect record, winning all ten of their matches and finishing with 30 points.
The final piece of the championship journey came at Juba National Stadium, where the Stars defeated Wajuma FC 2–0 to confirm their place at the top of South Sudan women’s football. Damalie Matama and Lillian Mutuuza scored the goals that completed a remarkable campaign and sealed an unbeaten season.
But perfection on the table does not happen by accident.
A league title is won over weeks and months. It requires the ability to perform when confidence is high and, perhaps more importantly, the discipline to maintain standards when expectations begin to grow.
