Three Cups and Counting: Yei Joint Stars Reclaim the South Sudan Women’s Cup

Published

on

In March 2026, Yei Joint Stars FC added another important chapter to its growing story by reclaiming the South Sudan Women’s Cup and lifting the competition’s trophy for the third time.

The final against Munuki FC demanded everything.

Yei Joint Stars took the lead through Esther in the first half, but the contest remained alive as Munuki found an equaliser after the break. With neither side able to find a winner in regulation time, the championship would ultimately be decided by a penalty shootout.

It was a moment for composure.

A moment for belief.

And a moment that Yei Joint Stars handled with the confidence of a team accustomed to competing for major honours.

The Stars emerged victorious, winning the shootout 5–3 to reclaim the cup and add another trophy to the club’s collection.

For the players, it was a celebration.

For the club, it was confirmation.

Yei Joint Stars had once again demonstrated that success in South Sudan women’s football is not built around one good season or one memorable result. Sustaining a winning culture requires the ability to return to the biggest occasions and perform when there is no room for hesitation.

The third Women’s Cup title also arrived during an important period for the club.

Fresh from an unbeaten league triumph in the previous campaign, Yei Joint Stars continued to establish a standard that future teams will now have to match.

But success creates its own challenge.

The more a club wins, the more difficult it becomes to surprise anyone.

Opponents prepare differently.

Expectations rise.

Every competition becomes an opportunity for someone else to knock the champions off their position.

For Yei Joint Stars, that is now part of the responsibility.

Three Women’s Cups represent history.

But they also create a question.

What comes next?

For a club that continues to grow in ambition, the answer is unlikely to be found by looking backwards.

The Stars are still looking ahead.
